We hereby share the interview to our partner, Laura Novoa, in the program \u201cDerecho al Aire\u201d of Radio Universidad de Chile. In this conversation, Laura addresses her extensive professional career in the mining sector: her beginnings as an in-house lawyer for the North American firm, Chile Exploration Company (Anaconda), which at that time owned Chuquicamata; the role she performed in the agreements subsequent to the nationalization of all major copper mining facilities, in 1973-74; her responsibilities as Codelco's chief lawyer -among which is her contribution to the drafting of its organic law- and her subsequent incorporation into Julio Philippi's law firm, being a precursor to the irruption of women as partners of Chilean law firms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the interview, she also recounts her participation in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (\u201cRettig Comission\u201d), at the request of President Aylwin and the role she played in the High-Level Advisory Council on Sustainable Development, at the request of the United Nations Secretary-General, in addition to her contribution to numerous NGOs that promoted various matters of interest, such as human rights, democracy, philanthropy, the environment and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
