Our congratulations to Ernesto Vargas Weil for being awarded the Joseph Hume Scholarship, in support of his research on doctrinal structures that allow English and German property law to adapt to changing economic needs. The Joseph Hume Scholarship is open to prospective or current MPhil/PhD research students at University College London (UCL) School of Law. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and research potential.
Ernesto is currently an Associate Lecturer and PhD student at UCL Law School, researching Private Law, Comparative Law, Law and Economics. Previously, he was a recipient of the Peter Birks scholarship (2018-2021), a scholarship awarded based on academic merit to students conducting research in private law, broadly defined as any comparative, doctrinal, historical, or theoretical treatment of any aspect of obligations or property rights.
